Shadow Creek Wedding Venue: An Honest Review

Each year, we at Zion Springs meet with well over 100 couples planning their wedding. And because so many folks know our thoughts and feelings on all things "wedding," they often ask us who are some of the other wedding venues we have in the area.

We're never ones to shy away from being blatantly honest with respect to competition, and we want our customers to be as informed as possible.  So, we’ll give you some info on the other types of weddings out there so you can work towards making an informed choice that best suits your needs.

About Shadow Creek wedding venue

Shadow Creek is a wedding venue with a chic equestrian barn that sits on 200 acres of a working farm in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia.  With its many 5-star guest reviews, it was was also named a Top 30 “Most Stunning Virginia Wedding Venue.” by the Venue Report and WeddingWire’s Couples’ Choice Awards for 2023. 

Because of its beautiful location, this venue books quickly for weddings, so you need to plan well in advance if you wish to reserve the facilities.

While it does hold other events throughout the year, Shadow Creek hosts beautiful one-day weddings.  You can rent the facility for a period of 12 hours with a sound curfew of 12 am.  

Property details

Weddings are held in the rustic equestrian barn that has an elegant feel to it or on the grounds of the 200-acre property with stunning views. 

Opened in 2014, the year-round climate-controlled barn has indoor seating for up to 300 guests.  The decor has a neutral palette that lends itself to personalizing your wedding theme. 

The barn, with its hardwood floors and twinkling chandeliers, is on the top of a hill so it can take advantage of the stunning views.  It is also a working farm so guests can see the family’s horses and cows grazing in the fields. 

Couples can take advantage of the private bride and groom dressing suites that include a private bathroom, which is ideal for those wanting to have the ceremony and reception at the same location. They are located on either side of the b,arn so there is no chance of couples seeing each other before the ceremony.

The rolling hills of this Virginia farm are the perfect location for an outdoor ceremony, and should the weather not cooperate, there is also a large front portico on the barn that can serve as the setting for a beautiful ceremony.  

Shadow Creek is pet-friendly, child-friendly, and handicap accessible.  With its equestrian theme, you can choose to have a beautiful horse in the stall, as well as enjoy their carriage rides on the property.  Who wouldn’t love a horse-drawn carriage entrance to their ceremony?

They also have corn holes, horseshoes, and a large stone gas fire pit for the cocktail hour.  There is plenty of parking, and within 30 minutes of Dulles International Airport for those out-of-town guest shuttles.

Vendors

Shadow Creek has a list of preferred vendors with whom they have established a great relationship and can recommend to you for a seamless wedding day.

They don’t have added fees for catering vendors and don’t require additional insurance.  We always recommend you get wedding insurance, regardless of where you plan to have your wedding.

For alcohol, you will need to have a licensed server, so check with your beverage vendor to make sure they are current with their licensing requirements. They offer a delightful horse trailer bar for serving your beverages outside.

It has indoor and outdoor audio-visual equipment as well as Wi-Fi.  

Lodging 

Shadow Creek has two accommodations available for guests that are close to the wedding venue. You will need to book these as soon as possible as they are first-come-first-served. 

Both sites have high-speed internet, Smart TVs, and Wi-Fi.  A fully equipped kitchen lets you prepare your meals in comfort with everything you need.  

Pets are not permitted in the cottages, and there is a minimum 2-night stay. 

Shiloh

Shiloh is a gorgeous 1800s stone cottage located right across the street on eight acres.  It can accommodate eight guests in three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.  Relax by the heated solar pool as you float in the tranquility that is rural Virginia or settle down with some wine next to the fireplace in the living room or dining room.  

The property is powered by solar energy and includes an EV charging station.   

Still Meadow Farm

Three minutes from Shadow Creek is the fully renovated estate house of Still Meadow Farm.  It accommodates eight guests with four bedrooms and two and a half baths.  Don’t forget to wind down in the hammock by the firepit as you take in the restful views of Virginia’s rolling hills.
